Gustavo Peña (English)

Born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, began his singing studies at the High Conservatory of Music in this city with D. Mario Guerra. Later he moved to Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where he obtained degrees under the direction of Mrs. María Orán

He attended training courses with Miguel Zanetti, Alejandro Zabala, Felix Lavilla and Wolfram Rieger (the latter being rewarded by Juventudes Musicales Españolas (2001)).

In March 2002 wins First Prize in the Regional Singing Awards CajaCanarias 2001.

He participates as a soloist at events such as International Music Festival of Canary Islands, International Music Festival of Galicia, Mozart Festival Corunna, Robecco Summerfestival (Amsterdam) Season Opera Bilbao, Teatro Real of Madrid, Teatro Liceo Barcelona, Madrid Teatro of Zarzuela, Teatro of Maestranza in Seville, and in the seasons of the major orchestras in Spain.

During the 2004/05 season he takes part of the Ensemble of the Deutsche Staatsoper Berlin. Performs a wide repertoire that includes works from early music to this day, both at the opera (Il Ritorno d'Ulisse in patria, Monteverdi, Carmen / Bizet, Nozze di Figaro / Mozart, Abduction in the Seraglio / Mozart, Hamlet / Thomas, Turandot / Puccini, Elektra / Strauss, Lulu / A. In late 2007 he recorded for Decca CD, opera Guernika (Gogor) of Francisco Escudero, along with the Symphonic Orchestra of Euskadi, under the direction of Maestro J.R. Encinar.

He participates with the City of Granada Orchestra in the recording of "Miserere" rescued file Andalusian musical heritage.
